About the Owner
Peter Alexander O’Karma established his firm in order to help good people in difficult situations, and for the last twelve years, OKarmaLaw has done so in many different areas of the law, including criminal defense, civil litigation, appeals, and corporate law.
In the criminal defense sphere, Attorney O’Karma has represented clients within various counties, from district court, to superior, all the way up to the Supreme Judicial Court. Being charged with a crime can be the scariest moment in someone’s life, no matter what the charge. From minor issues to major felonies, Peter has helped people navigate this world, and when necessary, trying a case in front of a jury. Sometime this is the best or only option, but no matter what, OKarmaLaw will find the best solution for each individual client.
As the ever-changing landscape of the cannabis industry has developed within the Commonwealth, OKarmaLaw has been at the forefront of legal advisory to clients regarding host community agreements, state regulations, and the CMR.
OKarmaLaw has also been involved in numerous facets of civil litigation, with cases ranging from simple slip and falls, to complex interstate commerce claims, consumer protection acts (hyperlink) M.G.L. c. 93A & 176d, airline negligence, legal malpractice, asset forfeiture, construction law and land disputes. These actions took place in various court and quasi-court proceedings, including federal Court (District of Massachusetts), Department of Industrial Accidents, Social Security Disability Board, and Division of Administrative Law Appeals.
In addition to private case, Attorney O’Karma has contracts with the Commonwealth to do public defender work at the district, superior and appellate level. Continuing with the mantra of making the world a better place, Peter has worked in numerous pro-bono capacities, as a former Director-at-Large for the Massachusetts Bar Association, as a Lawyer for the day program in the Boston Municipal Court’s Housing and Probate Division, speaking at high schools and middle schools throughout the state, and has even donated his musical skills, performing at the Boston Public Health Commission’s homeless shelters on Thanksgiving.
